GSTR-10 Filing

Final Return Filing for Cancelled GST Registrations Made Easy

GSTR-10 is a crucial compliance requirement under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime in India. If your GST registration has been cancelled or surrendered, filing GSTR-10 (Final Return) is mandatory to officially close your GST account with the government. Failure to file this return on time may result in heavy penalties and legal complications.

Our expert GST team helps you file GSTR-10 quickly, accurately, and in full compliance with current laws — so you can close your GST obligations without hassle.

What is GSTR-10?

GSTR-10 is a Final Return that must be filed by a registered taxpayer whose GST registration has been cancelled or voluntarily surrendered. It includes details of stock held (inputs, semi-finished, and finished goods) at the time of registration cancellation, on which input tax credit was claimed.

This is not a regular return like GSTR-3B or GSTR-1. It is a one-time return that ensures all tax liabilities are settled before the GST number is officially deactivated.

Who Needs to File GSTR-10?

You are required to file GSTR-10 if:

  • Your GST registration has been cancelled by the authorities, OR
  • You have voluntarily applied for cancellation

Exceptions: Input Service Distributors (ISDs), Composition taxpayers, non-resident taxable persons, and persons required to deduct/collect TDS/TCS are not required to file GSTR-10.

When to File GSTR-10?

GSTR-10 must be filed within 3 months from:

  • The date of cancellation, OR
  • The date of the cancellation order, whichever is later.

Filing after the due date attracts late fees and interest.

What Information is Required in GSTR-10?

  • GSTIN and business details
  • Date of cancellation of GST registration
  • Details of closing stock of inputs, semi-finished, finished goods
  • Tax payable on such stock
  • Amount of input tax credit to be reversed
  • Payment details through GST portal

Consequences of Not Filing GSTR-10

  • Late Fees: ₹200 per day (₹100 CGST + ₹100 SGST) up to a maximum of ₹5,000
  • Show Cause Notice: The tax officer may issue a notice for non-compliance
  • Legal Action: Further action may be taken for outstanding dues
